summer 2002 - Convent life

In February we had the pleasure of Sr. Maria Michaela making her temporal vows; and in April Sr. Maria Brigitte making her perpetual vows. Both occasions were ‘firsts’ after 450 years. In April our two candidates were clothed and begun noviciate and in May and June three further candidates joined the convent to live with us and to test their vocation. Thus, it appears that Helfta is happily alive and growing. There is a continuous stream of women from all wakes of life making enquiries after monastic life. We also have a number of volunteers who come for a shorter period of time to live and work with us, thus contributing to the day to day management of the convent family.
